Dr. John Collins joined The Dental Care Center team at the Wilson location in 1996 as a periodontist and has been proudly serving patients ever since. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Morehead State University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville. Dr. Collins completed his periodontics residency at Emory University and went on to complete a post doctoral fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill. He is also an honored recipient of both the Hinman Scholarship and the NIDR Dentist Scientist Award, reflecting his dedication to excellence and research in dentistry.
Dr. Collins specializes in periodontal surgery and dental implants and is especially passionate about the research opportunities within these areas of care. He values building strong relationships with his patients and enjoys partnering with them as they work toward achieving healthy, confident smiles.

Outside of the office, Dr. Collins enjoys staying active through cycling and spending time with his family. He has been married to his wife since their youth, and together, they have two children and three grandsons. Originally from eastern Kentucky, Dr. Collins remains a loyal Kentucky basketball fan. What he enjoys most about living in eastern North Carolina is a toss up between the welcoming climate and the local economy.
